The idea for ZotFish was developed in late 2007 as a way to counteract the frustration that the average citizen feels in not being heard. It was launched at the end of May 2008 with a roster of over 400 names from politics, film, TV, music, sports, fiction and non-fiction publishing, business, academia, and more.
ZotFish has taken full advantage of some of the latest Web 2.0 technologies to achieve a quick launch, from using the open-source "LAMP" stack in web hosting, the English-language Wikipedia as a source database for public figures, and photographs of public figures made freely available through Creative Commons licenses.
ZotFish has only just launched, and is still in its initial phase of collecting questions. We are hard at work contacting public figures for answers as the question pool grows, and look forward to providing you with the first answers. The rest of our story is still to be written, and you can help write it by contributing your questions and votes!
